about the Sessions

Urbana Basement is an endeavor to capture and archive the current local music scene in Champaign-Urbana.

Our community supports an amazingly diverse and vibrant group of musicians (both living in and traveling through these twin cities) and we hope that this project will help people find and connect to them in an easily accessible way.

Here's the folks behind the scenes...

After graduating from University of Illinois with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I decided that Urbana was a place that I wanted to live and work for a few years. I had been recording music in one way or another since high school and finally had a space to dedicate to it - a basement! While it began as a simple project studio to record my own music and that of my friends, "The Basement" quickly evolved into something much more. Each new session helps me learn more and experience an ever growing fondness for this community.

I'm a student in English and Philosophy at the University of Illinois and I like music, cameras, and Polar Pops. I like to work in the Basement because I get to hang out with musicmakers while I play with my camera and drink Polar Pops. Feel free to email me with comments, jokes, and/or compliments.
